Green City, Clean Waters

Tuesday, May 7, 6:30 pm
Germantown Community Presbyterian Church (Greene & Tulpehocken)
For those of you who care deeply about the environment and the planet (and we assume that’s most of you), the WCGN board has arranged a special treat.

Ms. Hailey Stern of the Philadelphia Water Department will be with us to make a presentation concerning the City’s ongoing program for Stormwater Management. Simply put, it’s about how we can keep precious, pure rainwater from ending up in the sewers along with our waste. Here’s what you’ll learn, according to Ms. Stern:

These projects are part of our Green City, Clean Waters plan, a 25-year program to combat stormwater pollution through the use of green infrastructure. These bumpouts, trees, and rain gardens capture stormwater and infiltrate it into the ground before it enters our sewer system. We’ve constructed hundreds of projects already and hope to build the projects near you in the next few years. More info…

We will meet at the Germantown Community Presbyterian Church (Greene & Tulpehocken) at 6:30 on the evening of the 7th. After the short presentation, there will be ample time for your questions and comments. We hope to see you there!
