Yard Sale Success

Thanks to all who donated, participated and volunteered to make this event a smashing success.

Thanks to Marjorie and Luke Russell for their tireless efforts to collect, accept, price, organize and store donated items as well as to Tom Schwartz for collecting and pricing donated items as well as placing appropriate ads which definitely brought in the crowds!

Lots of treasures!

While the sale officially started at 10am, we enjoyed vibrant traffic starting as early as 8:30 am at 120, 128, and 136 W Tulpehocken Street. There were 4 additional locations in the area and several individual sellers at the Tulpehocken market area participating so there was lots of shopping options.

Check it out!

Visitors were most active in the morning and then slowed down after lunch. As the end of the sale approached, the volunteers selected items to store for the next yard sale with the rest being offered to “Buy Nothing Germantown” Facebook group members and the remaining delivered to the Salvation Army the following day.

Fun Day!

We did receive several very nice donations for the silent auction but the browsing nature of the day was determined not to be ideal for this type of activity. Current thought is that we should operate a silent auction during our next picnic this October to continue to support the organization now that membership dues are no longer collected

Gross proceeds from the sale provided a very nice seed to WCGN’s rainy day fund.

Thank you all again and we look forward to engaging with you all for the next yard sale!
