WCGN held its Memorial Day picnic despite the threat of rain, and it was well attended. After plenty of good food, and lots of good talk, a brief business meeting was held. Luke Russell (interim president) introduced Rama Assaf-Smith as the new interim president (pending a vote at the October meeting). Luke Russell also introduced Sue Patterson, President of Penn-Knox Neighbors, who explained that her organization was challenging the Boys and Girls Club of Germantown in its bid to demolish their historic building at Germantown and Coulter in order to make way for a much larger recreation center that would include a full size hockey rink. She suggested ways we could support them in this. The garden committee recruited volunteers to help with garden watering this summer.
