The property at the southwest corner of Tulpehocken and Germantown is being purchased from Settlement Music School by Hightop Real Estate and Development, which intends to build a 50 unit apartment building there, “by right”, with retail space facing the Avenue, and which intends to then continue to own and manage the property. We have received reassuring answers from them regarding stormwater and wastewater management, plans for trash disposal, and preservation of the heritage sycamore on Tulpehocken, though it is anticipated that the already tight parking will get even tighter.
WCGN has formed a small task force which will explore options for addressing the anticipated parking problems.
Hightop expects to break ground in the next 90 days, weather permitting.
